During winter season pool owners exert effort and time finding ways on how to winterize their pool properly. One of the most important winterizing tools is the winter pool cover. Pool cleaning, lowering the water level, putting anti-pool freeze solutions and others winterizing process is useless without the presence of winter pool covers.
Winter pool cover plays an important role in maintaining the good condition of swimming pools. It prevents dirt, debris and snow from entering the water thus keeping the pool clean and crystal clear. Installing winter cover also prevents pool-freeze caused by heavy snow fall. Aside from that, winter pool cover also plays a big role in securing the safety of your family. Keeping your above ground pool covered with winter cover will prevent accidental submersion of children and house pets.
Here are the tips on how to install your above ground winter pool cover:
- Before installing your winter pool cover, you have to make sure that you are done winterizing it. Pool winterizing includes cleaning the pool by removing all the dirt, debris and other solid particles in the water. You also have to lower the water level down to the return fitting and skimmer. And lastly, you should put anti-pool freeze chemicals in the pool. It is important that all the necessary steps that require access in the water should be done before installing the winter cover.
- Stretch out the winter cover and put it over the pool. You will notice that the size of the winter cover is larger than the size of your pool. This is because once you place it over the pool, the middle of it will dip down due to the lowered water level. Also, the excess part of the winter cover will be used to overlap in the pool walls.
- Once the winter cover is placed over the pool, you can now line the cable through the cover’s grommets around the edge of the winter cover. Slot in the cable into the winch and then pull it firmly to secure the cover. Put in the excess part of the cover to avoid cover from dislocating due to heavy winds.
- To prevent damages on the winter cover due to heavy winds, you can use cover clips to keep the cover firmly in place. Cover clips are used to secure the edge of the winter cover and prevent it from flipping that might cause tears and breaks in the surface of the cover. And most importantly, you have to use the winter cover properly to maintain its good condition and prolong its product life.
